About Yoga Maumelle
Yoga Maumelle was founded as a community outreach effort by Dr. Marian Smith within her established practice - Comprehensive Health Psychology & Testing.
Dr. Smith is committed to being a positive force of change in our community and wants to give her patients and students the opportunity to experience the many benefits of yoga by demonstrating that yoga is for EVERY-BODY and there is no reason to fear it. She believes that today's fast pace culture has greatly increased stress related disorders such as chronic pain, inflammatory disease, weight gain, intestinal issues, substance abuse, and poor concentration and memory - to name a few.
Her style of yoga uses supportive props and modifications which makes yoga accessible to everyone, including individuals with mental health concerns, anxiety, aging bodies, pain, physical disability, athletic injury, and limited flexibility. Yoga assists our bodies in its ability to regulate stress hormones, master breath control, and process emotions. Yoga supports optimal mental and physical health by cultivating body awareness along with building strength.
